Cepco Tool BW-2 BoWrench Decking Tool

The BoWrench is a tool for both professional deck builders and do-it-yourself builders. Made with heavy-gauge steel, the BoWrench gives you a fast, one-person way to straighten decking boards, which are often warped. To operate the BoWrench, simply fit the tool on a joist, swing the lever arm, and release, pulling or pushing the boards into alignment. When the handle is perpendicular, the tool locks in place, holding the board securely and leaving your hands free to drive in nails or screws. With the BoWrench, youâ€TMll save time, create a longer-lasting surface, and maximize your materials.A deceptively simple-looking tool, the BoWrench is a boon for both professional deck builders and do-it-yourselfers. The BoWench gives you a fast, one-person way to straighten decking boards. This is great, because decking material–whether redwood, cedar, or another, more exotic rot-resistant wood–is often warped, especially in 14- to 16-foot lengths. To operate the BoWrench, you simply fit the tool on a joist, swing the lever arm, and release. You can either push or pull boards into alignment, and when the handle is perpendicular, the tool locks in place, holding the board securely and leaving you free to drive nails or screws. The BoWrench is better than toenailing. Burying nails in the sides of decking to close gaps works, but it gives water more ways to enter the decking, which eventually leads to rot. With the BoWrench, you’ll save time, create a longer-lasting surface, and maximize material. Using the special cam attachment (sold separately), the BoWrench replaces the clumsy beater block as the best way to close gaps in tongue-and-groove plywood and paneling. –Jon Groebner

A great tool, but not up to the task I bought this tool before doing a very large deck covered with 5/4 Pau Lope. It is a great improvement over the Stanley Board Bender, because it locks in place, reducing our manpower needed. The problem stems from the soft metal that makes up the BoWrench. The pin began to bend after a few days, and the hole the pin went through got larger and larger. We also bought the adapter for double joists. That was a great success, except that the pieces that lock the head in place eventually started…

This tool costs me money!!! All I can say is how could you build a solid deck out of todays quality lumber without this tool. It actually costs me money to own this tool. Since I retired I’ve been working building decks and I always charge by time and materials. Since owning the BoWrench I have lost money because of how little effort it takes to flex warped lumber into position for screwing down to the joists. I forgot it one day worked 8 hrs. and only got one third of my project completed, remembered it the next day and…
